Publication Ethics

Ecologic is a peer-reviewed, open access academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research. As a scholarly publication committed to the principles of academic integrity, transparency, and intellectual rigor, the journal upholds the highest ethical standards throughout the editorial and publication process.

This ethical statement outlines the responsibilities of all parties involved in the act of publishing in journal—including the authors, the Editor-in-Chief, the Editorial Board, the peer reviewers, and the publisher (Publion Research)—in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

1. Ethical Foundation for Journal Publication

Publishing in an academic journal is not merely a procedural act but a foundational contribution to the production and dissemination of knowledge. Articles accepted and published in journal represent validated research that has passed through a transparent, impartial, and critical peer-review process. These publications become part of the enduring scholarly record and must therefore meet the highest standards of academic excellence, originality, and ethical conduct.

The journal recognizes that maintaining trust among its contributors and readership requires a commitment to fairness, editorial independence, and adherence to international ethical norms. These responsibilities are shared collectively by all participants in the publication process.

2. Responsibilities of the Editorial Team

2.1 Editorial Independence and Publication Decisions
The Editor-in-Chief, in coordination with the Editorial Board, holds sole responsibility and full authority for selecting and accepting articles for publication. Editorial decisions are based exclusively on the manuscript’s scholarly merit, originality, clarity, theoretical contribution, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope. Editorial decisions are not influenced by the author’s nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, political position, or religious belief.

2.2 Transparency and Fairness
All editorial decisions are guided by transparent procedures, fair peer-review practices, and a commitment to uphold diversity in scholarly voices, especially from underrepresented regions and perspectives. Editors will not disclose information about a manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and the publisher as appropriate.

2.3 Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality
Editors are required to recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest. Editors may not use unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent.

3. Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

3.1 Contribution to Editorial Judgment
Peer reviewers play a vital role in ensuring the scientific and ethical quality of articles published in journal. They provide expert evaluation, critical commentary, and constructive recommendations that inform the editorial decision-making process.

3.2 Objectivity and Professional Conduct
Reviews must be conducted with scholarly objectivity, academic courtesy, and analytical rigor. Reviewers are expected to avoid personal attacks and ensure that their critiques are grounded in evidence and academic norms.

3.3 Timeliness and Accountability
Reviewers should respond promptly to review invitations and submit their evaluations within the agreed timeframe. If a reviewer feels unqualified or unable to meet the deadline, they must notify the editorial office immediately.

3.4 Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers may not share, distribute, or discuss the manuscript with others without prior authorization from the Editor-in-Chief.

3.5 Disclosure of Conflicts
Reviewers must declare any potential conflicts of interest and abstain from reviewing manuscripts where impartiality may be compromised.

3.6 Detection of Misconduct
Reviewers are encouraged to report suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, or substantial overlap with other published work to the editor.

4. Responsibilities of Authors

4.1 Integrity and Reporting Standards
Authors are responsible for presenting accurate, honest, and methodologically sound reports of their research. The submitted work must include sufficient detail and references to enable reproducibility and scholarly scrutiny.

4.2 Originality and Plagiarism
Manuscripts must be entirely original. Any use of the work or ideas of others must be properly cited. Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism and duplicate submission, is a serious ethical violation and grounds for rejection or retraction.

4.3 Data Access and Transparency
Authors should be prepared to provide raw data, documentation, or evidence related to their study upon request by editors or reviewers. Data should be retained for a reasonable time after publication.

4.4 Multiple Submissions and Redundancy
Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. Redundant or duplicate publication is unethical and unacceptable unless properly disclosed and justified.

4.5 Authorship and Acknowledgment
Only individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research should be listed as authors. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript. Individuals who provided technical assistance or general support should be acknowledged appropriately.

4.6 Disclosure of Funding and Conflicts
Authors must disclose all sources of financial support and any personal or institutional conflicts of interest that may have influenced the research.

4.7 Correction of Errors
If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they are obligated to promptly inform the journal and cooperate in retracting or correcting the article through an erratum or corrigendum.

5. Publisher’s Responsibilities

Publion Research is committed to ensuring the integrity of the academic record. The publisher provides infrastructure, administrative support, and digital preservation services (including LOCKSS/CLOCKSS) to ensure long-term accessibility of all published content. Publion Research does not interfere with editorial decisions and affirms the independence of the editorial board.

The publisher also works to ensure that all parties involved in the publication process are aware of and adhere to the ethical responsibilities outlined here. Where necessary, the publisher collaborates with other institutions, indexing bodies, or COPE to investigate and resolve ethical breaches.

This statement of publication ethics will be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect evolving international standards in scholarly publishing and academic responsibility.
